Using Carving and Floating (PDF)
Find out about science and maths concepts, build self-awareness and improve motor skills with simple sticks and stones
The beauty of working with resources that have to be found, or that might need handling carefully, is that they are full of wonderful surprises. A rock with slightly different markings; a shallow puddle of water with bugs and pond skaters; big chunks of wood with mould and moss (and hopefully some little creatures) – these simple resources can be just the spark that your children need to get their ideas, conversation and creativity going.
This wonderful teaching pack encourages the practitioner to engage their children in real life activities that can be continued easily at home, and help them understand the challenges and benefits of risk-taking. It supports the characteristics of effective learning outlined in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), as well building resilience, wonder and confidence in bucket loads!
