Using Musical Lycra and Scarves (PDF)
Find out how to tune in to children’s thinking using musical lycra and scarves
Most children are not as self-conscious as we, the adults who work with them, are. They have few inhibitions when it comes to spinning, rolling, dancing, crawling, jumping and generally using their body in free explorative ways.
They are naturally in tune with their bodies, but for us to achieve that state of being in tune with them, we must get down to the same level as our children, to give us the best opportunities to engage in and observe the play and learning which is happening for them.
This fun and practical pack shows educators how different fabrics of scarves and lycra can give us a creative way into supporting our children with their physical, social and communicative learning. It also gives them another opportunity to share their playfulness and ideas with us, right across all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
